Why is Dallas 5-1?

I know that none of you who aren't from the state of Texas excluding Houston predicted these Dallas Cowboys to be 5-1. Demarco Murray is on pace to break the rushing record and the defense looks passable. How did this happen? While I can't say for sure on the defensive side other than they hit some 4th and 5th round Cornerbacks to help while Claiborne still struggles, on the offensive side of the ball it comes down to a very successful draft strategy.

  • 2010 First Round - Dez Bryant (WR)
  • 2011 First Round - Tyron Smith (O - Line)
  • 2012 First Round - Morris Claiborne (Cornerback)
  • 2013 First Round - Travis Frederick (O - Line)
  • 2014 First Round - Zack Martin (O - Line)

Wow. That is dedication to the O-Line. It isn't rocket surgery here. Jerry had a plan and Jerry executed it. Something is to be said that all three Linemen turned out well, in fact Tyron Smith is the first lineman to earn player of the week honors since Bryan Waters of the Chiefs in 2004 when Priest Holmes ran for 4 TD's and Derrick Blaylock also had 4 TD's. This was a systematic rebuild by Jerry Jones. Remember the days Tony Romo couldn't pay enough for 3 seconds in the pocket? Now they are poised to break the rushing record.
