Bandwagon Analysis for Minnesota Sports

Here’s a quick background if you are unfamiliar with Minnesota Sports:
1. Wild – One of the hottest teams in the NHL, excellent talent, bright outlook. Lost last year in the Stanley Cup Conference Semifinals
2. Timberwolves – Highest rated rookie since Lebron James in Andrew Wiggins, young fan base, bright future
3. Gopher Basketball – NIT champions last year hoping to make NCAA tournament push, lackluster recruiting class but Pitino has a world class pedigree
4. Gopher Football – Hottest start in season since I’ve been alive, bowl bound, but their still the Gophers (die-hard fans know)
5. Vikings – No Adrian Peterson or Kyle Rudolph, but Cordarrelle Patterson, Teddy Bridgewater and a new stadium are appealing
6. Twins – Yikes.

Minnesota Wild

I know I’m a homer, but they’re real good. They have been dominating all year. They lead the NHL in multiple stats, most impressive might be how they have outshot opponents 225-140, ignoring special teams and lead-protecting situations. Their future is glowing with prospects and young talent. This team will be very good for years to come.
Bandwagon status – If you’re not on by this point, you’re not getting on.
Minnesota Timberwolves

I’m not an expert on the NBA, but I do know the hype for this team is real. Two new dynamic players in Andrew Wiggins and Zach Lavine create a spark that hasn’t been on Wolves teams in the past. The combination of those two with ‘veteran’ Ricky Rubio and true veteran Thaddeus Young makes for a very interesting future.
Bandwagon status – Limited seats available, bring some food to share and you should be good.
Minnesota Golden Gopher Basketball

he Gophers basketball program has a new, refreshed look with Richard Pitino, son of legendary Louisville coach Rick Pitino. It might be a little disappointing missing out on three huge prospects last year, but this team is clearly on the rise with last years NIT championship, and they will be expected to improve enough to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
Bandwagon status – The Gopher faithful have the best seats, but the upper deck is still up for grabs.
Minnesota Golden Gopher Football

Two weeks ago, I would have had them an number 2. Now, I know they’re the same old Gophers. They should be 7-1 right now, looking to beat Iowa to go 5-0 in the B1G for the first time in God knows how long, but they may have done the Gopherest thing in the history of the Gophers and lost terribly to a winless Illinois team two weeks ago. At 6-2, can’t complain too much, but I can’t get too excited either.
Bandwagon status – They’ve got a big enough stadium to house whoever wants in, but you better not wait too much longer.
Minnesota Vikings

I might get some hate for this, but the Vikings need a total makeover in their front office. The days of Adrian Peterson are over, and the front office needs to realize that. They need to take their time with Teddy, and weapons like Cordarrelle Patterson and Jerick McKinnon could be the future. A new stadium in the makings doesn’t hurt either.
Bandwagon status – It’s a long, cold bus ride from where they are to where they want to be, but others are taking the journey too.
Minnesota Twins

New coach and good prospects are a reason to look forward, but four consecutive 90 loss seasons has left it’s mark. Joe Mauer needs to return to Joe Mauer form, and more consistent pitching is needed in order to succeed.
Bandwagon status – As Michael Rand says, “Wide open. You can ride shotgun if you want.”
